Overview

We are looking to accelerate JAGGAER’s AI platform, JAI, and to establish scalable conversational
design standards. This Senior Conversational Designer role will operate as a hands-on individual
contributor with significant influence, splitting time between:
Owning and delivering high-impact conversational experiences for JAI, and defining, enabling, and
scaling conversational design practices.
This role is ideal for a designer who thrives at the intersection of AI, UX, and strategy—someone who
not only designs excellent experiences, but also leaves behind frameworks, standards, and
capabilities that endure beyond individual features

Principal Responsibilities

1. JAI Conversational Experience Leadership
• Own the design of end-to-end conversational experiences for JAI, from first user intent
through resolution, escalation, and follow-up.
• Define and design dialog flows, conversation scripts, prompts, and edge-case handling that
are intuitive, empathetic, and aligned with JAGGAER’s brand voice.
• Act as a senior design partner to Product, UX, Data Science, and Engineering to translate
complex business problems into effective AI-powered conversational experiences.
• Establish and apply appropriate conversation models and patterns (e.g., chat-first, hybrid UI +
conversation, guided workflows, micro-copilots).
• Collaborate on prompt strategies and interaction patterns that balance LLM capabilities with
enterprise needs for reliability, safety, explainability, and trust.
• Use qualitative insights and quantitative data to continuously refine experiences; define
success metrics such as containment, task completion, satisfaction, and deflection.
• Contribute senior-level UX writing and microscopy to ensure consistency across JAI
touchpoints and related products.
2. Conversational Design Enablement & Practice Building
• Assess the current maturity of conversational design across JAGGAER’s UX organization and
identify priority gaps and opportunities.
• Create and operationalize reusable playbooks, templates, and standards (e.g., conversation
flows, prompt structures, tone of voice, error handling, safety guardrails).Lead structured training sessions, workshops, and office hours to elevate conversational design fluency across the UX team.
• Define best practices for cross-functional collaboration with Product, Engineering, and AI/ML
partners when designing conversational experiences.
• Contribute to the evolution of JAGGAER’s design system by embedding conversational UI
patterns, content guidelines, and interaction standards.
• Serve as a senior reviewer and coach, helping designers’ critique, iterate, and improve
conversational experiences with confidence.
3. Research, Testing, and Strategic Collaboration
• Partner with UX Research and Product Management to identify high-value conversational use
cases grounded in real customer needs.
• Plan and conduct (or guide) usability testing, heuristic evaluations, and conversation reviews
focused on AI-driven interactions.
• Bring an external, forward-looking perspective by staying current on trends in conversational
AI, copilots, and enterprise AI UX—and translating those insights into actionable
recommendations.
• Clearly communicate design rationale, findings, and trade-offs to stakeholders ranging from
designers and engineers to senior product and business leaders

Position Requirements

5+ years of UX or interaction design experience, including 3+ years designing conversational
experiences (chatbots, AI assistants, copilots, or voice UX) in a product or consulting
environment.
• A portfolio demonstrating ownership of structured conversational systems, strong UX writing,
and measurable user or business impact.
• Hands-on experience designing for LLM-based or AI-assisted products, including chat or
copilot-style interfaces.
• Strong command of UX fundamentals: information architecture, interaction design, content
hierarchy, and user-centered design methods.
• Advanced UX writing skills, with the ability to craft clear, human, and context-aware
conversational copy.
• Proven experience partnering cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Data/AI
teams from discovery through delivery.
• Strong facilitation and communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority
and teach complex concepts clearly.
• Proficiency with modern design and collaboration tools (e.g., Figma, Miro) and conversationmapping/flow tools.
Availability to work standard US business hours aligned to the Eastern Time Zone.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience designing conversational experiences for B2B SaaS or complex enterprise
workflows; procurement or supply chain exposure is a plus.
• Demonstrated experience enabling or mentoring other designers through training,
workshops, or internal standards.
• Working knowledge of LLM behavior, prompt engineering concepts, and evaluation of AIdriven UX.
• Experience leveraging analytics, experimentation, and conversation data to optimize
conversational performance.
• Familiarity with enterprise constraints such as data privacy, security, compliance, and
responsible AI principles.
• Degree in Interaction Design, UX, HCI, Linguistics, Cognitive Science, or equivalent practical
experience.
